Simple and Easy Fall Front Porch Decor Ideas
Hey Everyone! Welcome to the last day of our Fall Festival blog hop! Thanks so much for Kendra at Joy In Our Home for hosting! Make sure to check out all the other fall inspiration I linked below for you guys. I loved seeing all of the fall goodness this past week.
It’s time for sweater weather…even though it’s still 80 degrees outside!
Our front porch got another mini makeover. You can see what it used to look like just a few short months ago here. The biggest change was the door color. It’s no longer blue and I secretly grieved about it. Painting the door black was killing me on the inside. I loved my blue door. Really loved her.
We recently installed a storm door. It wasn’t really my choice. We’ve had a storm door in each of our homes and I did love the breeze but I just knew it wasn’t going to look right on this house. I crossed my fingers and hoped it would work, though. It didn’t. My poor blue front door looked so pathetic behind that storm door. Painting my front door black was the only inexpensive option I had.
It’s growing on me. I don’t mind it as much as I did in the beginning. Maybe it’s because I bought a few new things to lessen the pain of losing my blue door. Because, when you give a mouse a cookie, right?
I knew the black door needed to get softened up a bit and this wreath from Hearth and Hand did just the job. Can you believe the price of this wreath? I’ve seen similar ones for triple the price. The wreath is so large and full too, it will definitely stay up year round.
I also switched out my outdoor rugs. My other plaid rug has made it’s way to our back door. If you have checked out the other front porches on this blog hop you will notice that this whole “layering rugs on your front porch” is a trend worth copying.
You can find my plaid rug here. I purchased my Welcome coir rug from Hobby Lobby. They should still have them in the store. I had a similar rug to this one originally on my front porch.
I also recently purchased these cute (and larger than I anticipated) flower buckets. I love that I can change them around seasonally. I originally had faux flowers in them but found this cute olive tree from Hobby Lobby and decided to put it in there for fall. I do have the olive tree propped up on some magazines to give it extra height. You can use my 85 pound dog as a comparison to how big these buckets are.
And yes, there I am taking a picture. I would have dressed up had I known I was going to be in this picture. Another reason to hate this storm door. I really didn’t feel like cropping myself out so there I am. Hello, nice to meet you. You will be seeing me alot in these pictures.
And you better believe that come Christmas time there will be a little Christmas tree in those planters too. If you have a large front porch and need something to fill the space, these buckets are perfect.
How can a front porch be decorated for fall without pumpkins? Every year in early October, I make a trip to Walmart. I am usually guaranteed to find some heirloom pumpkins from a local farm for a great price. And if you have steps on your front porch, cascading pumpkins down them is a no brainer to me.
I had some left over paper bats from my fall mantel and used some mounting tape to adhere a few to my front porch. It’s crazy windy where we live and so far these bats haven’t flown away. I seriously love these paper bats though. I am all about minimalizing (is that a word?) my fall decor this year and just a handful of bats is all I need.
Where’s waldo?? Did you find me in that above picture?
Besides the fact that I had a hard time accepting my new storm door, I am loving the new look on my front porch. I kept things pretty simple and just added in some bats and pretty pumpkins. What else can a front porch need??
