Bathroom Makeover that can be done in one weekend and on a budget!
Phase 2 of my kids bathroom is done!
But before we continue with this post let’s go back down memory lane, shall we
This is what the kids bathroom looked like right when we moved in.
It was fine but….we really knew we could fit two sinks in here.
So that was the start of Phase 1…we removed the old counters, hired a plumber to work his magic and got a counter top with two sinks.
And voila…Phase 1 was complete
You can read more about phase 1 of the bathroom makeover here and read about how I paint cabinets here
I also took down the giant builder grade mirror and replaced it with these pharmacy mirrors. My exact mirrors aren’t being sold anymore but I linked a few others for you here
Can I just say that having mirrors with a bit of storage is the real MVP. Nothing is worse than trying to clean a bathroom counter with clutter all over it.
And if you have kids or even a husband, then you can completely understand.
We lived with phase 1 of this bathroom makeover for a while but over time, this bathroom needed a refresh.
That’s where phase 2 came into play and I love phase 2 because phase 2 was all 100% cosmetic.
It was alot of paint and some decor, and that was it.
I repainted the vanity Smoke by Benjamin Moore and carried that same paint color throughout the rest of the bathroom.
I wanted to add trim and even wallpaper in here but with the steam and water, I knew better
So I painted the lower half of the wall Smoke and kept the top half as it was from Phase 1 (Simply White by Benjamin Moore). I have a hack for creating a perfect straight line when you are painting. I talked about it in this post.
I had every intention of the leaving the white part of the walls as is but since I am extra, I grabbed this stencil and spent the next two days stencling the upper bathroom walls.
It wasn’t my favorite decision but I am so glad that I did it. If you are a perfectionist, do not try this project at home.
Lots of mistakes were made but this pattern is very forgiving.
I also removed all of the towel racks (that was a pain in then you know what) and added my own towel holder
I also replaced the shower curtain rod.
I found this extra long shower curtain because hanging your shower curtain high should be mandatory. It makes such a huge difference and costs barely anything to do. I linked a few other extra long shower curtains here too.
And no bathroom is complete without some extra decor. I grabbed a new washable runner for in here and a few pieces of art from Hobby Lobby.
Phase 2 cost me less than $300 and made such a huge impact.
