Garage Door Makeover~How To Update Your Garage Door Using Magnetic Hardware
I never really anticipated having a post just about a garage door but I was so flipping excited about this I had to do one.
You know when you think something is too good to be true so you brush it off and forget about it?
Well, that’s what I did. A few years ago I saw this product from Amazon and I thought no way does it work (despite the amazing reviews).
I can’t possibly just stick these bad boys on my boring garage and have it instantly look a thousand times better. No way is it that easy.
So when my husband suggested we get a new garage door at our old house I instantly said I wanted a fancy carriage door (and for some reason he agreed). I watched the garage door installer drill holes into my new garage door to attach the 2 little hardware pulls to make it look like a carriage door.
I was so snotty back then.

And by the way, having real windows on your garage isn’t all that wonderful either. It’s a giant advertisement that you are not home when there are visibly no cars in your garage.
That occurred to us AFTER we installed this new fancy door. Good thing we don’t live there anymore.
We eventually moved (insert sad emoji face) and the first thing I noticed when we pulled into the driveway on moving day was the sad looking garage at our new house. So sad and pathetic he was all hardware-less and naked (and in need of some paint).
But then I remembered those magnetic stick on things I saw on Amazon and thought for under $20 I should give it a go. Worst case scenario the kids can play swords with them or whatever kids do.
And holy moly! I think I did a little dance in my driveway when I (and my 4 year old) just stuck them on and they stayed put and looked so freaking cute!
What the heck was I thinking 3 years ago spending all that money on a garage door?!?! Any why, yes, another exterior door has been painted blue like my front door.
Magnetic Garage Door Hardware
They literally stick right on like putting a magnet on your fridge. I don’t know why I can’t get over how easy and inexpensive this idea is. Whoever thought of it is a GENIUS!
Magnetic Garage Door Windows
I was pretty sure this was going to be a flop so I didn’t even consider buying the faux windows but I am seriously considering it…and no one can see in…even better!
***Update** I had to pop back on here to show you a new awesome find!! Magnetic windows!!! Say Whaaa??? Can it get any easier to have a faux carriage garage door?? No, it can’t!
That’s it for today. I have more to do to this side of the house but it’s just boring stuff so I won’t bore you with the details. I just had to share about my new friends. And if you know my husband please don’t tell him I could have saved him lots of money a few years ago.
At some point he’ll figure it out (or maybe not). Alright, I’m off to paint another door blue.
