The Best Places To Buy Budget Friendly Home Decor And Designer Dupes
When I say “cheap” home decor, I really don’t mean cheap. I mean “budget friendly but still really cute” home decor. I’ve always said that I am a deal seeking ninja and I pride myself on it.
Most of the items I have in our home are great dupes to more expensive items or the same exact thing…that I found at a great price somewhere else.
I’ve always been a bargain hunter and after I got married, it became more of a necessity. Sometimes, it’s the thrill of the hunt though that gets me all giddy over finding cheap home decor
Some people might think I am crazy to spend $20 on a decorative jar that literally holds nothing but looks cute on my bookshelf. But I am also the person that wears the same leggings every day of the week and I can’t tell you the last time I bought new makeup (or even applied makeup to my face).
Home decor has always been my happy place. So when I can find it for cheap, I am one happy lady.

Home Decor On Amazon
Obviously I am going to start with Amazon. I have done countless posts on home decor finds on Amazon. Not to mention I have an Amazon storefront with all of my favorites from Amazon.
I get so much of my home decor from Amazon. From rugs to chandelier to vases…even our kitchen faucet . It’s mostly from Amazon.
I’m also going to let you in on a little secret with Amazon…you can get free shipping….kidding, that’s not the secret. Everyone knows about free prime shipping.
My secret is called “Creative Co-op”. If you follow any popular designers you will see most of them use the same pieces in their designs. You can find most of these pieces on Amazon under the name Creative Co-Op. They are the wholesaler which means sometimes you can find your pieces cheaper on Amazon.
Let’s take my most recent Amazon purchase as an example. I just purchased these cute gold boxes from Amazon.
Or you can pay a few bucks more (and pay for shipping) here.
Another example…those useless jars that I buy just for looks. I’ve been seeing them everywhere lately and they aren’t crazy expensive but when I can find them a tad bit cheaper and get free shipping, you betcha I’m going to buy them from Amazon
(If I could link the dog for you, I would! But you can’t find her on Amazon)
And for the record, these jars aren’t really useless. They would look cute on your kitchen counters and can be used for storage, or in a bathroom. I do put phone chargers and miscellaneous stuff in my jars.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love supporting my favorite designers and my Amazon technique doesn’t always work. And sometimes if the price isn’t a huge difference I will purchase it from the designer. And there have been a few times, the price was more on Amazon so it just takes some investigating.
I just bought this canister from Studio McGee because it might be the cutest thing. Even though I still had to pay shipping (which annoys me to no end), I found a promo code and therefore I feel like I still won.
I’ll link everything at the bottom of my post of all of my favorite Amazon finds but the moral of this story is search for “Creative Co-Op” on Amazon. You’ll be amazed at what you can find.
Home Decor at Wayfair
I know, this is an obvious one for most people. BUUUT…back to what I was saying when we were talking about finding designer pieces cheaper.
I have seen the pink vase in my office everywhere in all of my favorite designers spaces. It’s never under $100…until I did some investigating….and I found it on Wayfair for under $100
It’s big and beautiful and well worth the under $100 price tag.
Same thing with this bone box I found on Wayfair. I saved some moolah getting it on Wayfair. It’s sold out on Wayfair but these boxes are very similar
And I recently just bought new light fixtures for over my kitchen island. I ordered them as “open box” to save more money. I was a little hesitant to do it this way but it worked out perfectly. The lights were brand new and I saved even more money.
Sometimes I feel like Wayfair is a black hole when it comes to looking for home decor. I can spend most of my 40s just looking for a rug. It feels overwhelming so I suggest you go in there with a clear idea of what you are looking for.
These are some of the items I own and love from Wayfair and have spent countless hours looking for. Click any image to shop

Home Decor at World Market
When it comes to buying quality furniture, I am a huge fan of World Market. When my husband and I first got married and needed to furnish our first home with real furniture (instead of blow up furniture) we discovered World Market. The price for most of the furniture they have was very reasonable and the quality was unbelievable. Fast forward 15 years later and we still own most of our furniture we purchased from World Market when we first got married.
And when World Market has sales, they…have…sales. We found our kitchen table for dirt cheap many years ago at World Market. They no longer carry this table but 10 years later and it still looks brand new….despite the nail polish my daughter spilled on it, or the slime that is now stuck in all of the grooves. Both of which can come off but I’m still waiting for my kids to leave for college before I thoroughly clean this table
We also purchased our dining room table at World Market many moons ago. It also still looks brand new.
Our exact table is also no longer available but this one is very similar
I also found my little settee at World Market. It’s a dupe to one I saw a long time ago at Pier One. Mine was so so so much cheaper and once again, is holding up like a rockstar. Again, mine is no longer available but this one is similar in price and style.
I also own this this side table and I know I have seen something very similar for triple the price at other big name stores.
It also comes with a matching coffee table and the price is so good for such a quality piece.
This foyer table is very popular among home decor bloggers. I do not own it, but my mom does and I am just waiting for the day she’s ready to give it me (did you read that mom?).
This desk is also very popular in blog world and rightfully so. I’m trying to decide where I can put it in my home.

You can see this post regarding more of my favorites from World Market. And I just purchased our new sectional from World Market too.
Home Decor at Walmart
Walmart is getting smart and is 100% stepping up their game in the home decor department. I can find some really quality pieces at Walmart. I love anything from their Better Homes and Garden line.
I actually did a whole post on the best home decor from Walmart here
I have this pillow which is now on clearance. It might be my favorite pillow. My suggestion is to replace their insert with a down insert and you have what looks like a designer pillow for dirt cheap. My pillow is the cream color which looks to be out of stock but there are other colors. These pillows are large and would look great on a couch or as bed shams
I also own this pillow and it already comes with a down insert which is amazing
This pillow is very popular among home decor bloggers.
Drew Barrymore also has a new line at Walmart and it seems to be a huge hit. You can shop her line here
I actually purchased this pendant for my office. It’s a very pretty pendant but unfortunately was too small for my space. This pendant looks so much like ones from Serena and Lily and a fraction of the price They would look so good over a kitchen island.
This mirror is a hot item too and you cannot beat the price
These botanical prints are also so great for the price.
Walmart also has some great rugs on their website. I have been eyeing this one and this one

Home Decor at Hobby Lobby
Another one of my favorite places to shop is Hobby Lobby
(Disclaimer-please do not send me an email telling me you can’t shop at Hobby Lobby. I know some people have their own opinions..if Hobby Lobby is not your kind of store then just keep on scrolling)
Back to the post…I actually did a whole post on some of my favorite finds at Hobby Lobby in this post. The thing I do like about Hobby Lobby is that you can find every kind of style there. They usually lean a little bit more farmhouse but if you look close enough you can find some really modern and eclectic pieces.
And you can find some really good dupes. For example, this leather wrapped bottle is very cute and affordable but I found dupes at Hobby Lobby for under $5.
I also found a dupe to this trayAnd this cute planter is almost identical to my planter I found at Hobby Lobby
I probably should do a new post on just my Hobby Lobby dupes. And don’t forget to read this post on how to save more money at Hobby Lobby. And no nasty emails, K?
Home Decor at Target
Another no brainer for affordable home decor is Target.
I was able to score the ever so popular arched mirror when it first came out. I’m sure you have seen this mirror all over IG land
It’s so good though. It’s large and unique and the price is insane. I know it goes in and out of stock often so grab it if you want it.
Their round mirror is incredibly popular too.
And their wood frames are so so so good.
I also like to (impatiently) wait for their seasonal items to go on clearance because when they do, you can score big time. I’ve been waiting for these white planters to go on clearance and when they did, I pounced…and bought every single one my store had (6 to be exact)
Also, what’s on sale or clearance at one Target, likely will be different at another Target so if you have two near you, I’d constantly be checking out their clearance section at each store.
Also, rumor has it what doesn’t get sold at Target will sometimes be donated to Goodwill. I know a few other bloggers that score some good Target stuff from their local Goodwill store.
Home Decor at TJ Maxx/Home Goods
I pop into our local TJ Maxx often (probably too often for my husband’s liking) but that’s the name of the game with TJ Maxx and Home Goods. The early bird definitely gets the worm in that store. However you can shop online at TJ Maxx.
Here’s my advice when shopping online at TJ Maxx. Shipping usually takes (at least) a week. They are not quick to get you your items. You can return in the store which is nice though.
They have no minimum ree shipping days randomly so unless you have a giant purchase and qualify for their minimum for free shipping, wait until they have one of their free shipping days.
Buy books-lots of books at TJ Maxx. Their coffee table books are notoriously cheaper than you would find anywhere else.
I listed a few of my favorites here:
Some tips to get discounts on your home decor
A quick trick I have done over the years to help save money on some of my home decor (or anything really). Once you find that item you love, head over to Gift Card Granny or Cardpool and look to see if you can find discounted gift card(s) for the store you are shopping for. I do most of my shopping online so I look for e-gift cards.
You should get an email almost instantly after you purchase the gift card with the code you will use for your online purchase. I have also purchased a few gift cards at the same time from the same store if they are available to get more of a discount.
And if you want more of a savings, you can also check out eBay and look for coupons. I recently found a coupon from Pottery Barn to save 20% and get free shipping. The coupon cost me $2.99 and I saved so much more than that on my order using the coupon. The seller was able to email me the coupon code to use online. Make sure you read any fine print.
Always look for a promo code online. RetailMeNot is a great place to look for promo codes.
And if you like these little tips, sign up for my newsletter. I have been trying to send out a Friday Finds newsletter when I can (don’t worry, I won’t spam you) with all kinds of sales and coupon codes I can find for that week.
