Home Decor Trends for 2026
Discover the latest home decor trends for 2026 and elevate your home with some of my tips
Well, well, well, here I am again writing my home decor trends blog post for the new year.
This time I am writing a whole new blog post. But I’ll give you a blogger’s secret.
Sometimes we just update old posts instead of writing a whole new one.
Don’t tell anyone I told you that
I’m guilty of that and have done that for my previous home decor trends post. I think it is time to finally start a new blog post for 2026 though.
This post might have some cross overs to last year’s home decor trend post but lots of changes are coming for 2026 in the home decor world.
I’ve done my research too, and let me tell you, there are some exciting trends coming our way.
As we approach 2026, it’s time to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new.
As someone who loves to keep up with the latest home decor trends, I’m excited to share my predictions for what’s going to be hot in 2026.
But first, I’ve said this in my post from last year and I will say it again…
There are “design trends” and design styles come and go. But guess what…it’s your home…decorate it however YOU want.
If you see a trend emerging that you hate…don’t do it. If there is something you love and you think it’s on it’s way out…who cares?
The trend police will not come arrest you, I promise.
We’re moving away from cookie-cutter designs and embracing the unique quirks and personalities of each homeowner.
No longer are we satisfied with a room that looks like it came straight out of a catalog. We want our homes to reflect who we are and what we love.
With that being said, and just for fun let’s move on to what will be trending in 2026
Home Decor Trends for 2026
Maxmimalism
First up, we have the return of maximalism. Say goodbye to minimalism and say hello to a bunch of junk.
I love this trend.
I love junk
It’s time for everyone’s homes to look like garage sales.
Kidding.
This look can make your home feel cozy and let your personality shine through in your home.
I am a firm believer that a home is not cozy if it’s barely decorated. If you want your home to feel cozy you just simply have to add more junk to it.
(You can see how I like to make our home feel cozy here)
Vintage Grandma/Nostalgia
Another trend I am loving is the grandma trend (and yes, I just made that word up)
This means incorporating personal touches like family heirlooms and vintage finds into your homes. It’s about mixing and matching different styles and eras to create a space that’s uniquely yours.
Non-White Walls
Say hello to color again.
I still love white walls as it’s a classic look but this year you will see more color on our walls.
Some walls might be dark and moody

And some might be light and airy but there will be color on our walls again.

Wall Molding (Not Shiplap)
Maybe I am the only one, but I am ready to take a break from seeing shiplap e.v.er.y.w.h.e.r.e
It has it’s place but it’s definitely had it’s day in the shade already. I was ready to move on from shiplap a few years ago.
I have been seeing more and more box molding appearing on walls lately and it’s such a timeless look
And it’s such an easy DIY project you can knock out in a day (Easy DIY box molding)
I just added some more box molding to the wall above my mantel and I love how it turned out.
If you really want an easy DIY project, you can find peel and stick wall molding. I just purchased one of these kits and I’ll report back once I use it.
Dark Wood Furniture
I’m so glad I didn’t sell my dining table because I really wanted to. For the past few years light wood has been in the spotlight.
I still love the lighter wood furniture but the dark woods are making a comeback and I am so glad.
(Now we just need Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors to make a comeback and I am golden)
Curved Furniture
Yes, curved furniture is definitely a new home decor trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years.
This trend is all about incorporating furniture pieces that have curved or rounded edges, rather than sharp, straight lines.
Curved furniture can add a softness and elegance to a room, and can create a more welcoming and inviting atmosphere.
Some popular examples of curved furniture include curved sofas, rounded armchairs, and circular coffee tables.

Natural Materials
Natural materials are very popular right now.
From marble countertops..
(OK, my counters are Dolomite…which are a form of marble. You can read more about my Dolomite countertops here)
To textured natural stone vases…
I love all of the texture you can add to your home just with natural materials.
I’ll throw in rattan too for good measure. I know I included rattan in my past home decor trends post but rattan is still going strong
Gingham print
A few years ago, I couldn’t get enough of buffalo check print.
Fast forward a few years and I cannot get enough of gingham print now.
I have been seeing gingham print everywhere from tablecloths to furniture. It’s a trend that I am definitely loving lately
Lighting Trends
I read somewhere that a home is not complete unless you have all different kinds of lighting in it.
Don’t ask me where I read that and I likely just made it up.
But regardless, lighting in a home is so important. Sconces are really popular right now.
No need to have an electrician come in either to install them for you. You can just DIY them like I did (and like every other blogger on this side of Pinterest has done)
And I have floor lamps and table lamps wherever I can find a spot. I have an irrational obsession with lighting
Gallery Walls
Gallery Walls the look collected are making a rise again. And I think are in general is making a comeback. Landscape prints and vintage inspired art is really popular right now.
(you can read more about my gallery wall here)
Color Trends
I never thought I would say this but brown is coming back. This room used to have chocolate brown walls that I repainted
Rug//Sectional//Round Mirror//Sconce
But part of me wonders if I should have kept these walls brown.
But that’s ok. I can add in some brown accessories to stay on trend.
I recently gave this room a mini makeover with some paint and I incorporated some BEIGE in my room.
Beige is also back!
You can see more about my family room makeover here
You’ll be seeing more browns, more beige and warmer colors in our home decor. Those earthy colors are here to stay for a while.
Well, folks, that’s a wrap on our home decor trends for 2025! I hope you found some inspiration in these ideas and are excited to revamp your living space. Remember, you don’t have to follow every trend to a T – it’s all about incorporating what works for you and your personal style.
I’m sure I will be updating this post as the year goes by…
(Psst…I created this guide just for you and it’s cheap!)
