Long before I stalked followed Joanna Gaines and now my newest obsession Studio Mcgee I had Sarah Richardson. She was my go to for design inspiration. Some of her designs were a little bold for me but others I loved with a capital L. I purchased her books, purchased some of her pillows, made other pillows with her fabric, and watched every episode I could find of hers online and on HGTV. Does this all qualify me as a crazy stalker? No? Ok, good.

And I fell in love with this room the second I saw it.
It’s simple and elegant and oh so pretty. I knew I wanted to recreate it as best and as budget friendly as I could. I’m a deal seeking ninja. I had an empty room in our house that used to be a play room until we finished our basement. It was just sitting there waiting for my Sarah recreation and at a husband acceptable price. This room was going to be mine…no kids allowed and was my “office” (even though I didn’t work). But everyone needs a pretty office or a pretty room in their life, right?
Sadly, I only have one good picture of this room from we listed our house so yes, you are seeing the same picture as above.
Let’s talk about my favorite piece in this room…the mirror. I found it at Hobby Lobby and last time I was there they still had it. I made sure to buy it when HL was having their 50% off mirror sale. I will also be honest and say it is as heavy as a mother. No sugar coating it. I had to have a store employee help me put it in my minivan and a complete stranger had to help me bring into my house. We were adding a screened in porch to our house at the time and one of the sweet workers helped me. Yep, the lengths I went to for this mirror. But he’s still one of my favorite pieces so it was worth it.
My couch came from my favorite store of all time…World Market. It looks like they are slowly discontinuing this couch (b00). If you have a World Market near you I’d check it out since it is heavily discounted right now. Don’t fret though Pier 1 and Wayfair have similar loveseats. And if you are into color World Market has a similar settee with color. Amazon also has some cute settees.
My coffee table was an Amazon find. I’ve had it for years and so far it has held up pretty well. I do not recommend having your kids dance on it but for a room that doesn’t get too much attention it’s perfect and exactly what I was looking for.
My curtains I purchased from Target and added navy trim to them to jazz them up a little. I did something similar to my IKEA curtains at the new house. It’s an easy way to add some interest to a room and it costs just a few dollars to do.
My lamp was a thrift store find and I switched out the shade for a new modern-ish one. If you can’t score one at a thrift store like I did this one from Pier 1 is cute and at a great price.
I found my faux fur rug at Tuesday Morning but you can find a similar one on Amazon or IKEA. I really did have every intention of layering it with a jute rug or a striped rug but I just never got around to it before we moved. I’ve been eyeing this beauty for the new house. And if there is anything in my house that my husband hates it’s my faux fur rug. He still makes comments about it.
And I cannot forget my accent wall. I originally starched fabric to this wall. It wasn’t my original idea. I saw it on one of my favorite blogs at the time. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it should have been. It was actually a borderline disaster. But I learned alot from that experience…I learned that I will not be starching fabric to my walls again anytime soon. So up went wallpaper. I love wallpaper and have plans for it in the new house. The wallpaper I used has been discontinued but there are so many options right now. I saw this wallpaper at Anthropologie and I have a good feeling it’ll be making some sort of appearance at the new house. And because I’m the deal seeking ninja that I claim to be I found the same wallpaper on Amazon.
My ceiling light (that everyone in my family made fun of but I still loved) was a Pottery Barn clearance deal. You can find a similar one here
There have been many different kinds of pillows on my couch in that room. You can find my navy polka dot pillow on Amazon. For a long time these pillows lived on the couch too. Always check out the pillow section at Hobby Lobby…back by the drapes and fabric section. They have a ton of pillow covers that are cheap and are sometimes 1/2 off. My white pillow cover with jute trim came from there and was maybe $4.
And because getting all new floors throughout your first floor and then 4 months later selling your house makes perfect sense that’s what we did. Our floors are Pergo in Nashville Oak and for the 4 months that I lived with them I really did love them. We purchased them from Lowes and had them installed by Lowes and I couldn’t have been happier with the installation.
I really do have so many projects for the new home including another pretty room for just me. But for now I’ll just have to look at this one until Pretty Room 2.0 gets accomplished.
