The Best Home Decor Designer Dupes From IKEA You’d never know these pieces were so affordable and came from IKEA
You all know that I love me some IKEA and I know for a fact that you do too. A few years ago I wrote a blog post on the best items you should buy at IKEA and still to this day it is my number 1 blog post.
Coming in as a close second are my blog posts about my Ektorp Sofa and now the Uppland Sofa.
So, now I know for a fact that you all love IKEA…the numbers do not lie.
I also know there are plenty of people out there that think IKEA’s furniture is junk….and to be honest, my husband is one of those people.
He really hates IKEA and definitely did not drink the same Kool-Aid that I did.
I will admit, though, that some (not all) of IKEA’s furniture can be less than perfect. I personally have never purchased anything from IKEA that I did not love though.
And sometimes, you just find that one piece that you cannot believe came from IKEA and that is how this blog post was born.
Before we continue with the good stuff, let me settle anyone’s nerves about having to shop at IKEA. If you do not have an IKEA near you, or if you are intimidated to go inside of IKEA (because I was for a while) you CAN shop online. Yes, you have to pay shipping. For smaller items it’s a flat fee ranging from $5-$10 and worth every penny.

IKEA items that look expensive
IKEA Lommarp Cabinet
(click on title to be taken to IKEA’s website)
For a few months now I have been on the hunt to find the perfect chest for my kitchen. Long story short, I needed to find a chest to house our microwave.
Again, long story and don’t ask.
Anyways, I searched and searched and searched…nothing.
And then one day I remembered the chest I saw at IKEA years ago that I remember thinking was so pretty and wishing I had a place for it in my house.
Bang, two days later I had it purchased and put together in my kitchen (with a microwave in it). It’s the fanciest microwave cart I have ever seen.
(Ignore all the fingerprints…this picture was taken right after I put the dang thing together and my, likely sweaty, hands were all over it)
It is such an amazing piece. If you ever need a chest like this, buy this one from IKEA. You will not be disappointed and you would have no idea this was from IKEA (minus the fact that you had to put it together).
It’s a solid piece of furniture with soft closed doors and drawers and gold hardware. It comes in a few other colors. The green is gorgeous as well. It definitely has a more traditional vibe to it than most of IKEA’s furniture
And also comes with glass uppers if you want more of a credenza look (find it here).
Sanela curtains
My favorite velvet curtains from all time are from IKEA. And they are good.
These curtains are long. (Don’t get me started on 84″ drapes. I want to start a petition to remove all 84″ curtains from all stores.)
These curtains are wide and have the back tab for hanging which I love. They come in multiple colors and just look so much more expensive than they are.
Do yourself a favor and get yourself some Sanela curtains.
Fallenhet Vase
Did anybody notice the vases in the picture above?
Those vases stopped me in mid tracks when I was at IKEA the other day getting my fancy microwave cart. I couldn’t pass them up. I’ve seen similar vases from designers that are quadruple that price.
IKEA’s home decor section can be hit or miss for me sometimes but more often than not, it’s a huge hit. I always find something I love in that section of the store.
Svansele Gold Mirror
Speaking of stopping me in mid tracks, this gold mirror did as well.
I knew I wanted a gold mirror over my microwave cart and once again, IKEA saved the day. It reminds me of much more expensive mirrors you would find at Anthropologie or Pottery Barn.
Applaryd Sofa (also comes in a loveseat)
This sofa is newer to IKEA and it’s just gorgeous
It reminds me of the York sofa from Pottery Barn (and for a fraction of the price).
Snidad Basket
This basket is a fan favorite and has been around for a while.
It’s a great basket for any room in your home. It’s more of a decorative basket than a storage basket but it’s hard to pass up.
VISKAFORS chair and half
This armchair! It is so very comfy and would also be great for a basement or a dorm room. And I love the feet of the chair.
Persian Rugs
Something I was pleasantly surprised to see at IKEA were their Persian rugs. I do not think you can find these online but they do have them in some stores. They are a bit more expensive than most things at IKEA but less than finding these rugs elsewhere.
Sinnerlig Pendant
The infamous pendant that you’ve likely seen all over Instagram but that’s because it’s a good one. I was being stubborn due to it’s popularity and didn’t want this pendant for my office but once again I caved. The price and style could not be beat so (once again) I took a trip to IKEA.
Koldby Rug
I also have been looking for a faux cowhide rug to layer over my dining room rug. I just love the warmth and extra texture it can add to any space. And you guessed it, the best price I can find for a cowhide rug is at IKEA.
Arstid Floor Lamp
I just picked up this floor lamp at IKEA. I was looking for a floor lamp just like this but everything I found that I liked was way too much for me to consider purchasing. But not this guy…he’s cute and affordable.
There you go, lots of affordable pieces that you’ll never know came from IKEA.
Happy Shopping!
