Modern Farmhouse Christmas Table Setting Ideas Using Plastic Plates And Traditional Christmas Colors
The other day I decided to try my hand at setting a mock Christmas table. I was all proud of myself and even thought to snap some pictures. It wasn’t until I got all the pictures edited did I realize that I forgot the silverware.
But I did NOT forget the wine glasses. #priorities
If you are reading this, just pretend there is silverware on this table, ok?
The best thing about this Christmas table setting is that it is so affordable and was so easy to throw together (even without silverware).

Modern Christmas Table Settings ideas
I am not a huge tablescape blogger. I do not have a ton of table setting ideas on this blog. Obviously, since I forget key pieces like silverware. Table settings always intimated me. I thought you had to get creative and buy all kinds of stuff to make a pretty table setting. You know, things that did not consist of paper plates and napkins.
But then…
I found the cutest plastic plates.
And those plastic plates gave me the confidence I needed to try this. I felt more in my comfort zone with disposable plates.
The chargers I found a few weeks ago at Hobby Lobby and they were also so affordable. I grabbed them before I had any idea what I was doing in my dining room. They are no longer in stock online but if you have a Hobby Lobby near you, they should still have them in store. I also found possibly the same exact ones on Amazon (here)
These cute bowls with the gold trees on them were also a Hobby Lobby find. They are not plastic but I couldn’t pass them up either.
A few weeks ago I also shared on Instagram how I beefed up my centerpiece for the holidays. I purchased this pedestal bowl (that I possibly love more than my Christmas tree bowls) and threw a house plant in it.
This is what my dining table usually looks like before the Christmas decor explosion happened
Notice the centerpiece in the picture above…the greenery is just a house plant that I have had for a while now.
(And do not ask me what that houseplant is called because according to the tag, it’s called “houseplant”. I know, real informative.)
I picked up a few fake flowers and just stuck them in my houseplant until I came up with something that looked decent. It seriously took me 15 seconds to do and it looks as if I know what I am doing over here.
I also think a great table setting needs to have some pretty linens. I splurged (well, for me it was a splurge) and purchased this table runner. It is so hard to find long table runners and my table needed this runner. It told me it did, I promise. And quite honestly, for the quality and design of this table runner, it was a bargain.
I purchased these stockings last year for our mantel and decided to put them on the dining chairs as place holders. I personally think I am a genius with this idea
Kidding
But seriously, it’s such a cute idea if I do say so myself
And candles…lots of candles. Candles make everything better. Really. I stole my brass candlesticks from my mom. These are original brass candlesticks from the good ol’ days. I am so glad she decided to not sell these in a garage sale.
I purchased our chandelier off of amazon last year and for the size and price it is such a great chandelier. Same goes for my rug, that was also an Amazon find.
I was so happy with how this table turned out. It wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I thought it would be and it was surprisingly fun to throw together. Now let’s just see if I actually set the table on Christmas…and if I remember the silverware.
