Modern farmhouse Christmas decor ideas. Affordable ways to decorate your home for Christmas
Last week a Christmas tree arrived on my doorsteps. For the record, it’s only September but in my opinion it is never too early to start planning for Christmas.
More about the tree later but I do start planning my Christmas decor in the fall, for a few reasons. One of which is because I am so indecisive and it takes me months to get a game plan going.
So in my hunt for Christmas decor, I rounded up some of my favorite modern farmhouse Christmas decor finds.

Also, you can see more of my favorite Christmas and home decor on Amazon in my Amazon Storefront
I also recently launched a Holiday Shop on my blog that has a ton of affordable Christmas decor ready for you to shop. You can see my Holiday Shop here
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Pillow Covers
And naturally I am going to start with pillows…because if you know me then you aren’t surprised with this. I try to not spend a ton of money on seasonal pillows. And sometimes I just make my own. You can see how I make my own pillows using napkins here. It is such an easy and affordable way to make your own Christmas pillows.
This pillow is a hot item. If it is in stock, get it! It’s very popular and is usually always sold out. I have it in red and love it.
My first stop for cheap Christmas pillow covers is usually Amazon. I can find some cute Christmas pillows there
These pillow covers are so affordable cute
And you can never go wrong with buffalo check pillow covers. You can use these pillows year round too, which is my favorite way to decorate.
These pillow covers from Woven Nook are so stinking cute and I know I will be getting them for Christmas. You can also find pillow covers from Woven Nook on Amazon.
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Trees
As much as I love pillows, you kind of need a Christmas tree to get your home in the Christmas spirit.
I love, love, love the shape and style of this tree
(Did I mention I loved this tree?)
This flocked tree is great for smaller spaces or if you love pencil trees as much as I do
I just purchased this flocked pencil tree at Walmart and my goodness it is so good for the price.
This 4 footer is cute if you need a smaller tree and I the burlap base makes life a tad bit easier for you. This would look so cute on a console table.
I just put up one of my trees and I love how beautiful it looks without ornaments.
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Stockings
I love decorating with stockings. I sprinkle them around my house and obviously I use them for my mantel.
Last Christmas I purchased these stockings to replace the ones we had for literally 13 years. It was time for a stocking update and I am so glad I did it. The reviews were right about these stockings and they go with any decor.
These stockings are so cute too and are more farmhouse-y (is that a word?)
These stockings are cute for those that like the traditional red and green Christmas colors.
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Tree Collar
I can’t wait to use a tree collar this year around my tree. Every year we cut down our own tree and every year it’s the biggest tree we can find in the lot. The giant trees we bring home require a giant tree stand and our giant tree stand never fits inside of any cute tree collars I like. This is my year though, I can feel it in my bones.
That new fake tree that just got delivered…yep, it is going in a tree collar…mark my words, sister.
I just picked up this tree collar at Walmart and I can’t get over the quality and price. I’ve similar for triple the price.

Modern Farmhouse Christmas Tree Skirt
I’m actually on the hunt for a new tree skirt for our larger than life real tree we bring home every year. Our current tree skirt was the first one we have had since we got married. Which is fine but coming from someone with home decor commitment issues, I am really surprised it is still around.
This Ruffled Tree Skirt is fun but can go with any decor
I love the texture of this Faux fur tree skirt
And I can never have enough stripes so this Striped Tree Skirt is calling my name
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Wreaths
Quite honestly, most wreaths can be considered Christmas if you throw a bow on it….and a few bells…
But add some flock to your wreath or buy this one and bam, you really got yourself a Christmas wreath.
I also love the simplicity of this one. You can customize it with ribbons, bells, berries…you get the idea
Or think a little outside of the box with this one
This wreath is very similar to the one on my front door.
And last but not least, Walmart has their Christmas stuff out and I seriously cannot get over some of their stuff and prices. I am not joking when I say Walmart has been on it’s A game lately. I grabbed a few of these wreaths to hang on some interior windows. They are so good and the price is unbelievable!
You can find this berry wreath here
And this mixed pine wreath here
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Ornaments
Until just a few years ago, I never put ornaments on our Christmas trees. I know it sounds bizarre but since the trees we get are so big I usually just throw some lights on our tree and call it a day. I’ve been slowly adding more ornaments to our trees so I am always on the hunt for Christmas ornaments
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Garland
We have what seems like the longest mantel. I’m exaggerating a bit but it’s only during Christmas do I get annoyed with how long my mantel seems. I usually have to buy a few different garlands to get the thickness and length I want on my mantel. You can see what I am talking about here when I beefed up my Christmas garland last year.
This garland would look great on it’s own or can be used as a good filler to beef up your garland.
This garland might be able to check off all of my boxes when it comes to garland. It’s long, thick and comes prelit. (Add to cart)
Here is the previous garland’s brother without the berries
I also saw this garland from Walmart in person and it is so good and the price is insane. I have every intention on stocking up with this garland.
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Decor
I have had this buffalo check throw for a year now and it’s one of my favorites to decorate with. Just a little disclaimer, it is not the most plush and cozy blanket out here. It does it’s job as a blanket but it’s just not as cozy as some blankets out there. But man, is he cute.
This North Pole Mailbox is so cute and would look so good on a front porch or even in an entry way.
You can never ever have enough bells. These bells are the easiest things to decorate with. Lay them on bookshelves or coffee table, hang them on your front door. Anything. These bells also go in and out of stock often. If you have a hobby lobby near you, check there. They usually have similar bells
You also can never have too much plaid when you are decorating for Christmas. The easiest thing you can do is throw a plaid rug on your front porch and voila! You can use your plaid rug year round but during the holidays it looks extra festive.
And battery operated candles…something else you can use year round but they can make your home feel like the holidays when you want them to. I love these candles and had them on my front porch and mantel last Christmas
Other places to look for Modern Farmhouse Christmas decor
Target-The most obvious choice. I love to look for my table linens and pillows there. I normally pick up a few placemats to make placemat pillows for the holidays. I love the Hearth and Hand line during the holidays too. You can see more about how I make my pillows using placemats and napkins here.
Hobby Lobby~Hobby Lobby has had their Christmas decor out since July and I am not exaggerating. They have a ton of stuff in there for Christmas. It’s like a winter wonderland. I usually stick with the neutral more modern pieces.
McGee and Co~My favorite designers have an online Christmas section on their website. Some of their items can be a little pricey and some are reasonable. I also like to look at how they style their items. I get so many ideas just from looking their catalogs.
Kirkland’s~I recently re-found Kirkland’s I’m becoming a tad bit addicting. I love their more modern pieces and they have such affordable prices. And always wait for a coupon. It’s one of those stores where you really never have to pay full price.
Walmart~ Another obvious choice but that’s where I found my little Christmas trees for our Christmas front porch that I love and our Santa mailbox that I thought my husband was going to throw in the trash when he tried to assemble it.
Happy shopping
