Easy Front Porch Decorating Ideas Using Faux Plants and Mums
Looking for easy and low-maintenance ways to spruce up your front porch for the fall season? Look no further than these simple decorating ideas that use faux plants and mums!
It’s been a while since I last blogged about my front porch being decorated for fall. Which sort of surprises me since my front porch is one of my favorite things to blog about.
I did give my front porch a spring spruce up and that seemed like it was only yesterday but here we are. It’s still hotter than you know what outside but technically it’s almost fall.
I always use the same formula when decorating my front porch though so it takes no time for me to change things up.
I just switch out a few things each season.
Most of my fall decor from the past few years had seen better days so I knew I had to start fresh this fall.
And so I did…I even (and FINALLY) switched out my sconces by my front door.
I’ll link everything at the bottom of the post too.

As you can tell I went very neutral this year with my decor.
I used to have alot of black and white on my front porch but this neutral front porch decor is really becoming my favorite.
And you know what else is my favorite? My faux plants out here. I kill everything.
I even joke that I can kill a fake plant.
I tried real plants out here a few times with no success. Comically, I even tried to have real mums on my front porch. I think I killed those mums before they even made it out of my car.
I had to go fake this year and I am so glad I did
It gives me peace knowing that nothing on this front porch will die or rot away ever.
Do I think I am fooling anyone that these plants aren’t real? No. But do I care? Also, no.
Let’s just go one planter at a time on how I achieved this faux look.
First up, the planter full of fake mum stems.
(I’ll make this is as easy as possible)
1:) I used these planters.
2:) I used around 20 of these faux mum stems in the center of the planter and around 10 stems of these faux mums around the perimeter of the planter.
3:) I stabbed each faux stem into some floral foam like so
4:) I then added an old vase I had to the bottom of my planter for some weight and height
5:) I then dropped the mum arrangement I made into my planter and voila.
Easy Peasy.
My other planter with the faux topiary took a bit more thinking and I am still not sure those topiaries aren’t going to blow away with a strong wind.
I won’t go into too much detail, but just know that there is a toilet seat in that planter. You read that right
A toilet seat
I have no pictures for proof but just believe me.
It’s a new toilet seat so don’t get disgusted. I was trying to mimic the idea of this planter lift/stand.
In hindsight I can’t say the toilet seat was the best idea.
But anyways, now that you know my secret…I have a toilet seat in these planters with these topiary trees placed on top of said toilet seat.
And done…no one will ever see the toilet seat.
A few more things to show you. I’m sure I lost most of you when I said toilet seat.
Like I said, I switched out my old sconces for new sconces and I cannot believe I waited as long as I did to switch them out.
I also added new pillow covers to my old outdoor pillows I had out here. My old ones were black and white and they weren’t going with my vibe. The new pillow covers I used aren’t really outdoor covers but since my front porch is covered I am not too concerned.
If you want real outdoor pillows I love these outdoor pillows. I have them outside by our pool (we’ll talk about the pool another day).
I have a bad habit of switching out my front door rugs and once again, I switched them out.
I have had my faux pumpkins for a few years now and I got them at Michaels. I believe they still have them.
Just know, a strong wind has made these pumpkins go flying across the yard.
And that’s a wrap on my front porch.
New planters, fake plants and mums, fake pumpkins…and a toilet seat. You don’t hear that every day.
