The perfect greige and warm gray paint colors. I listed 9 of my favorite greige and warm gray paint colors that will look beautiful in any home
What is Greige
Move over gray, there is a new kid in town and his name is Greige. This might not be new to some of you especially if home decor is your thing and you are following along on the newest home decor “trends”.
To those that aren’t as psycho about home decor and decorating like I am, let me introduce you to my friend Greige.
He’s a gray/beige combination and he is taking over lots of interior walls lately, He’s the new “trend” and rightfully so. He’s the perfect blend of gray and beige and a perfect way to blend modern and traditional.
I use the word “trend” loosely here. You can’t wrong with greige and he’s been around for years and will be around for more years to come.
For those that have lots of gray in their homes already but want a paint color that is warmer than a true gray, well then, greige is your friend
And for those that have lots of beige in their home but want to stick their toes halfway into the gray world, welp, greige will also be your BFF.
(PS…beige paint colors are making a comeback and I recently wrote a post on the best beige paint colors if you need something else to read to bore you)
Where To Get Samples of Greige Paint Colors
I cannot stress how important it is to get samples of your paint choices and sample those colors on your walls for a few days. Lighting will play a huge role on what undertones will come out to play.
Some greiges might have sneaky undertones and you will want to sample your paint on your walls.
I get all of my samples from Samplize. They are large samples that you can stick right on your wall. They are removable so you can move them around your house too, which is helpful if you are painting your whole house the same color. The same color can look completely different in your living room and in your dining room.
Always test your paint in each room
I suggest this will all paint colors but especially with paint colors that have sneaky undertones.
You want to sample the paint on your walls morning, noon and night. Lighting plays a huge factor in what your paint color will actually look like in your home and on your walls.
I’ll touch briefly about each paint colors LRV too. LRV is Light Reflective Value. The lower the LRV, the darker the paint color looks on the walls.
Whites have higher LRVs and dark colors have low LRVs
Is Greige Still Popular in 2023
Yes, it definitely is. Gray is becoming a little bit “stale” in the my opinion. People are looking for paint colors with some warmth to them.
Greige is the perfect compromise.
So let’s talk about some of the most popular Greige paint colors from some of the popular paint stores and how to find the perfect greige paint color for your home.
Starting with my favorite paint…
Best Greige Paint Colors for Transitioning Away from Gray Trends
Popular Behr Greige Colors From Behr
I love Behr paint, I really do. Yes, Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore are very nice paints too but if you are looking to save some moolah on paint, you can color match any color at Home Depot. I have done this multiple times and I have been happy each time.
Some will say that the color will not be an exact match to the original but I have not had any problems….unless it is a Farrow and Ball paint color. Their paint formulas are a bit trickier to color match.
~Behr Mineral
Behr Mineral is such a pretty traditional paint color. It’s a light and airy beige with gray undertones.
Unfortunately Samplize does not carry Behr samples. For now, you’ll have to go old school and get samples of Behr paint at Home Depot.
You can also get peel and stick samples online at Home Depot.
~Behr Wheat bread
Behr Wheat Bread has a LRV of 56 which means it has some depth to it but is not overly saturated.
It’s a warm gregie color that pairs well with warmer colors.
Wheat Bread is very similar in color and intensity as Revere Pewter (we will talk more about Revere Pewter later) but Behr Wheat Bread definitely leans more toward the beige side than Revere Pewter.
~Behr Silver Drop
I have to mention my favorite paint color. I love it so much I did a whole post all about it. (You can read more about Behr Silver Drop here).
Silver Drop is a warm gray with a touch of beige It looks like a true gray in some spaces and more of a greige in others. It’s a chameleon of paint colors and mimics the colors in the room. It looks slightly different in each room in my house…which I love.
Silver Drop has a LRV of 70 which is really high for a greige paint color. This is a very light greige/warm gray paint color that I really do love so much.
Best Greige Paint Colors From Benjamin Moore
~Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
Revere Pewter might be the most popular greige paint color you will find on the internet. It will look gray with warmer beigey undertones (is beigey a word? Well it is now)
This is a perfect color for those that want a modern/traditional look in their home. It pairs nicely with most decor and makes a great base if you are stuck with decorating your home.
It’s also a popular color to use when trying to sell your house. You really cannot go wrong with this color.
Revere Pewter is also a beautiful color for cabinetry. One of my favorite designers recently used Revere Pewter on a client’s laundry room cabinets and it’s so good.

~Benjamin Moore Edgecomb gray
Revere Pewter’s little brother is Edgecomb Gray. Edgecomb gray is right below Revere Pewter in the Benjamin Moore paint deck, but Edgecomb Gray is less pigmented and has more yellow in it than Revere Pewter.
Edgecomb gray is such a versatile color and I have tempted to paint a few rooms this color. It’s perfect supporting actor paint color and won’t steal the show…if that makes sense. Your decor will pop more with this neutral color

~Benjamin Moore Pale Oak
Pale Oak is another beautiful versatile wall color that won’t steal the spotlight from your home decor. If your room gets a lot of natural light, Pale Oak can lean more of a warm off white. This color is a lighter and warmer greige color than most greiges that we’ve talked about.
Best Greige Paint Colors From Sherwin Williams
I feel like I can write a whole post on greige paint colors JUST from Sherwin Williams. They have a ton of choices you can pick from. It is so overwhelming. So yes, I only picked three to discuss but holy moly, I could have picked 3,000
~Sherwin Williams Colonnade Gray
Colonnade Gray is very close in color to BM Revere Pewter, so much so that they might look like the same color when paired next to each other
See what I mean?
From what I read and from what I can tell, Colonnade Gray does not have the slightly green undertone that Revere Pewter might have. They are both a very beautiful neutral greige and the similar in depth. Colonnade Gray is also warm gray with a greige undertone.

~Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray
A very popular gray/greige color from Sherwin Williams is Agreeable Gray. It’s just one of those colors that can pair well with anything. It’s a warm gray with beige undertones.
Agreeable Gray is ONE of those paint colors. It’s versatile, popular, and goes great with most home decor styles.
Agreeable Gray is considered a greige color as it has some beige undertones to it. It’s a warm color right in between true gray and beige

~Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige
A few years ago, my parents and I were touring a model home/condo and I remember loving the wall color. So much so that I snuck down to the basement and found the paint cans and saw that they were Accessible Beige.. I tucked that information in my brain and haven’t forgot about it for years.
I highly considered painting my whole house Accessible Beige…but I feel too hard for Silver Drop
I consider Accessible Beige more of a beigey color with gray undertones
I think Accessible Beige is that color you would get if you wanted to add just a touch of gray in your home. The paint color for those that just want to dip their toes in the gray paint can.

Wondering How To Pick The Perfect Paint Color?
Start with inspiration:
I talked a little bit about this in this post but I’ll touch on it again. Picking your paint color for your walls should be one of the later things you do when designing a room. Find a large focal piece (rug, art, window treatments) and look for colors in those pieces that catch your attention. Get on Pinterest and look at magazines. Get some ideas of what you like. It is your house.
Decide on the mood of the room:
Do you want your room to be light and bright or dark and moody? If you home doesn’t get a whole lot of natural light, stark white walls might look dingy. I would consider a paint with some color to it.
Grab your swatches and bring home samples
Bring home some swatches and ideally some sample paints if you feel extra ambitious. Use large foam boards from the dollar store and paint sample boards. Test them in every room. Remember each room gets different natural light. See how they look in the morning and at night.
Consider everything in your home…your trim, your floors etc. My floors are Brazilian cherry (aka very red) and I knew I wanted a color just a tad cooler to play off the warm red tones of the floor.
Is your trim bright white, or creamy white? Very cool gray colors might not play well with very warm white trim.
Get what I am saying?
If you want to see the undertone of color, look at the darkest color on the paint color strip. If you love a paint color but fear it can be too dark, ask them to cut it with 25% or 50% white.
You can buy all your paint at Home Depot
Like I said before, I am a huuuge fan on Behr’s paint. I usually use their Ultra line and I can’t say enough good things about it. We had professional painters come in to paint our 2 story entry way and even the professional painter said you can’t go wrong with Behr paint.
If you want to save a little money on your paint, Home Depot will color match any color for you from either Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore. I know some designers might cringe and tell you that Home Depot won’t be able to match the formula 100%. I haven’t had a problem yet.
Get free large swatches
Samplize offers peel and stick samples.
I have also been known to grab a bunch of the same color swatches and then taping them to a piece of paper. Those 2×2 swatches are for the birds. You can also order large free swatches from Benjamin Moore here
Keep a list of your home paint colors
It’s always a good idea to keep a list of the paint colors you have used in your home. I can’t tell you know much it has helped me.

Paint brushes: I love all of Wooster’s paint brushes but this one is hands down my favorite one to use. It makes cutting in so much easier.
Painter’s tape: I hate taping and I really try to avoid it but when I can’t I make sure I use a good tape
Drop Cloths: Yes, you need them and you need many. I have used trash bags and old shower liners before too.
Cleaning Cloths: These are amazing every day cloths for cleaning but work great for baseboards and walls before painting.
Paint Cup: This paint cup is brilliant and has a magnetic strip so your paint brush stays safe from falling in your paint.
Multi Position Paint Brush tool: The best tool you will ever use if you have tall ceilings or just in general. I used something similar to this to paint my 15 foot ceilings in my family room and it was a life saver.
Paint Edger: This might get a bad rap but if you do it right, it has been a nice helper for me. Especially when trimming around windows and along baseboards.
Touch up cup: Nothing is worse than having to pull out the whole can of paint for a little touch up.
Hope you are able to find the perfect paint color and able to start painting away. Painting is my therapy and I feel like I need a therapy session soon!
