What’s New at IKEA for 2024
I took a trip to IKEA to see the latest and greatest of their new home collection. From sleek and modern furniture pieces to cozy textiles. Whether you’re looking to revamp your living room, bedroom, or home office, IKEA’s got you covered.
Well, hello again IKEA. Oh, how I love thee…and apparently so do you guys because my “IKEA must haves” blog post is one of my most popular blog posts.
So what does a blogger do? She goes back to IKEA to give you more of what you want.
I recently decided to take a road trip to IKEA with all of my non-free time and found some great new finds.
And this time, I did not get lost inside the IKEA maze. I stayed on track and followed the arrows like a good girl.
I still don’t understand how one store can be so big.
So let’s talk about what is new at IKEA this year.
New IKEA sofas
I’m just going to go straight to the good stuff. Why make you guys wait.
Sometimes I wonder what the heck IKEA was thinking when they discontinued their infamous EKTORP sofa and their FARLOV sofa.
And I know the UPPLAND sofa replaced the EKTORP. I wrote a whole blog post comparing the two.

But I was still upset with IKEA
I really was starting to question if I’d ever forgive them
But I did
Because of this beaut…the Applaryd Sofa (also comes in a loveseat)
It comes in a few other colors too but the color of that deep navy had me drooling.
And the details on this sofa had me drooling even more too.
Let’s just say if I needed a new sofa, it would have been that one.
Another sofa that I thought was so pretty was the ESSEBODA. The whole ESSEBODA series looks to be so pretty and a bit more traditional than most sofas at IKEA.
I loved the blue color once again. And I loved the rolled arms and the curved back
The beige sofa was so great too.
Another new sofa I was dying to see in person was the BACKSALEN sofa. I actually saw it for the first time in one of their catalogs and it definitely got my attention.
I’ll have to say I was hoping for more of a wow factor when I saw it in person. It was a very comfy couch and I loved the detail of the slipcover but I could tell it had the potential to look messy real quick.
And with three kids and one crazy dog, I have enough stuff in my house looking messy.
Let’s also just address the elephant in the room here. The prices of these sofas at IKEA are definitely more expensive than I personally think they should be. I think I purchased my EKTORP sofa 8 years ago for $299.
But I guess it is what it is now. They are still affordable considering what I’ve been seeing lately
New IKEA armchairs
The STRANDMON wing armchair is a best seller and comes in so many colors. There are a few new colors but I believe the chair itself isn’t too new
The VISKAFORS chair and half was very comfy and would be great for a basement or a dorm room. And I love the feet of the chair.
(It also comes as a sofa that I guess I forgot to mention up above)
New Furniture Pieces at IKEA
I own a few furniture pieces from IKEA and while I about ran away trying to put them together, I am very happy with everything I have purchased from IKEA
This new IDANAS chest stopped me in my tracks
It looks like it should be double the price.
I also loved the detail on this KALKNAS cabinet
I have the LOMMARP cabinet but I also saw that it comes as a TV stand too. I don’t think this piece is considered “new” but I felt the need to share. I think this collection might the prettiest I’ve seen at IKEA.
New Textiles and Pillows at IKEA
If you know me, you know I love my pillows. Everytime I go to IKEA I pick up a pillow or two…ok maybe three…and I always grab a few pillow inserts.
I saw these cute round pillows last I was at IKEA
And this cute bedding
I love this checkered bedding too. It would look so good in a kids bedroom or a dorm room
I get the majority of my curtains from IKEA. I saw just a few new curtains this year though. I listed all of my favorite IKEA curtains in this post.
I have the HANNALILL curtains so they can’t be too new but they are really great lightweight curtains.

New Rugs at IKEA
IKEA has a great selection of area rugs. I only saw a couple of new ones this go around.
This checkered rug would be so cute in a kids room or an entry way.
It has this orange trim too which I love
And this flatwoven rug is a great neutral print.
New Home Decor at IKEA
The home decor accessories at IKEA is one of my favorite sections. I love their lighting and their frames and their mirrors. All of it.
These round mirrors are new and the convex mirror is my favorite.
And what do my eyes see here?? This mirror is such a great dupe to the Anthropologie infamous mirror. It doesn’t say it’s “new” but I have never seen this mirror at IKEA before. Because if I would have, I would have purchased it already. This mirror also comes in a longer length
The mirror I do have from IKEA is the SVANSELE
And it comes in a longer length too.
These dried flowers are “new” each season. I got some a few years ago and just keep them in plastic bag in the off season but they still look great after so many years

I am a huge fan of IKEA’s real plant section. There are always great plants there. These potho plants were ginormous. I should have grabbed one
