The best faux Christmas garland for 2023
I wrote a similar post to this last year and instead of just updating it, I thought it would be easier to just create a whole new post. Most of the garland from last year isn’t available anymore so what good would that post be anyways.
See, I’m a good friend.
Yes, I know it is only October but this is when I need to start getting my Christmas content out there and this is also when you should be purchasing your Christmas decor if you actually want to find anything in stock.
Don’t wait until after Thanksgiving…that’s my only word of advice.
My mantel changes every year for Christmas and every year, the garland was the star of the show.

You really have two choices when it comes to garland.
Fake or real.
And while most bloggers might tell you the best way to go is to go real….I am here to tell you the opposite.
Real garland is great, don’t get me wrong and I love the smell of fresh pine. But that stuff is meeeesssy. I have a hard enough time keeping my floors clean without dying garland strung about. I don’t need to add dead pine needles to the mix.
I’ve done my research these past few years on finding pretty and almost realistic looking fake garland (that won’t require me to sell my first born child to afford).
Fake garland has come along way in the past few years. I have even found pretty and realistic looking garland at Walmart. This garland is one of my favorites from Walmart. I hang it every year over my window in my kitchen. Yes, it gets a little messy but I’ve experienced worse.
This garland always comes back in stock around late October so keep checking if it is out of stock.
I love this garland from Amazon too. I’ve used it the past few years on our round mirror over our mantel. If that garland is out of stock, this garland is similar and from the same company.
I also get most of my garland from Hobby Lobby (in store). We all know that Hobby Lobby puts out their Christmas decor right after the 4th of July too. The garland on my mantel from last year is from Hobby Lobby. I saw it there again this year. I did add lights to mine. It’s a good one for the price.
I’ve rounded up a few (or alot) of affordable garland that you can buy online below. As of right now, everything should be in stock but who knows for how long.

Afloral is a great website to find beautiful greenery and garland. I rounded up some of my favorites from there.
This garland has a cult following and WILL sell out quicker than you can say Bah Humbug. The infamous garland can also be found on Amazon. You can actually find most of their garland on Amazon too…but I’d say grab it where you can.
I cannot stress enough how quickly these will all be gone!

If you want to see how I have decorated my mantel for Christmas over the years here is one blog post on my asymmetrical Christmas mantel that you might like….unless you need symmetry in your life
I also wrote this blog post years ago when I first started blogging on how I like to beef up my mantel garland. This is a great idea if you’d rather not spend a ton of money on new garland
Last year, this is what my mantel looked like.
Round mirror//sconces//peel and stick tile (blog post)//bells//Merry Christmas garland
It was one of my favorite Christmas mantels. The wool garland and stockings I found at Hobby Lobby and I feel like they have the similar things every year. I do remember buying that wool garland in October and it was no longer available in November.
Things go quick, I am not lying to you.
The garland I have on my mantel is also from Hobby Lobby. I did end up sticking some magnolia leafs in the garland to fluff it up a bit.
The bells were from Amazon and so was the Merry Christmas garland. They will sell out quickly too.
I love to sprinkle garland throughout my house during Christmas. It is the easiest way to decorate for the holidays.
I love garland on my stairs too.
Now go get yourself some garland and start decorating for Christmas.
It’s never too early…unless you are one of them that needs to wait until after Thanksgiving…and then I will tell you I told you so when all the garland is sold out….so just get some garland now, OK?
