The Best Budget Curtains You Can Find Online And Tips To Hang Your Curtains To Look Expensive
There once was a time when I had an addiction to throw pillows.
Well, technically I still do.
But lately I have been having quite the addiction to curtains as well. I love curtains.
Curtains can really finish a room and if you hang them correctly they can make your ceilings look higher and your windows appear wider.
They can add color or texture to your space. And yes, for those that need curtains for privacy there is that added bonus.
I am extra picky when it comes to my curtains. I will never buy 84″ curtains for any space I am designing.
Someone played an evil joke when they decided that standard curtains should be 84″ long.
It had to have been a man
There are too many homes with floods as curtains.
I usually stick with 96″ curtains unless the ceilings are extra high and then I will look for 108″ curtains.
I love the look of pinch pleat curtains so if I can find a curtain that has the pleating tape already sewn on, I get extra excited.
Better yet, if I can find curtains that are affordable that are already pleated, I get even more excited.
We’ll talk more about how I like to hang my curtains but first let’s talk about where to find the best affordable curtains.

Where To Find The Best Budget Curtains
Curtains at IKEA
The first place I always look for curtains is at IKEA. I even wrote a whole blog post on the best IKEA curtains
They have linen curtains and velvet curtains. Some of their curtains even have a cult following.
What I love most about curtains from IKEA is that they have long lengths. You will never find 84″ curtains at IKEA
And most of their curtains have pleating tape already sewn on.
And the best thing about IKEA curtains is how flipping inexpensive they are. If you have a room full of windows and want curtains, the first place you should look is IKEA.
I won’t reinvent the wheel so read this post if you want more info about IKEA curtains
The Best Amazon Curtains
The next place I look for curtains is on Amazon, of course.
I just purchased these curtains from Amazon and I cannot tell you how much I love them
They come already pleated and are so affordable for the quality. I have seen similar curtains for triple the price of these. They come in a few other colors but I have the “natural” color.
(As you can probably tell, I do have two panels hung on each side of my window.) These are, hands down. the nicest linen looking curtains I have seen.
My favorite velvet curtains from Amazon are from this brand. They have multiple versions of the curtains and in a ton of colors
I have these curtains in the gold brown color in my office.
These curtains in my office have pleating tape sewn on already and I am a huge fan of pleating my curtains these days.
(I did a full tutorial on how I pinch pleat my curtains if you have any interest)
I have this version of the same curtains in my daughter’s room
These curtains just have a rod pocket to hang your curtains
I just saw that this same brand has curtains that are already pleated for you. I can’t believe I found these curtains AFTER I already pleated the curtains in my office but oh well.
Rod Pocket//Multi hang//Pleated
Half Price Drapes has a great selection of curtains on Amazon from velvet to faux linen and the price is great for quality drapes.

You can see their whole selection on Amazon here.
If you want to splurge a bit and get linen curtains that are already pleated these curtains are beautiful (and yes, a splurge)
They come in all sizes and colors.
You can also get them with some pattern to them

I just found these faux linen pleated curtains as well and the price is great. The price is for 2 panels and the reviews are also great.
Budget Curtains from H&M
I love H&M. It has always been my secret go to for home decor. Their pillows are insanely inexpensive and it wasn’t until recently that I started paying attention to their curtains.
But…their curtains go in and out of stock all of the time. If you see a curtain you love and it’s out of stock, just keep checking back or sign up to be notified when they come back in stock.
You can shop all of their curtains here
For the same reasons why I love IKEA curtains is why I love H&M curtains. They are affordable, come in long lengths and some have pleating tape already sewn on.
The first curtains I purchased from H&M started off in my dining room and then ended up in my kitchen.
You can shop them here and they may or may not be in stock.
Eventually I put these curtains in my dining room.
But now they are in my office. (I recently played musical curtains)
Again, if they are out of stock, just keep checking back.
Most recently I added these velvet curtains to my front living room

Budget Curtains from Target
Target is an obvious place to look for curtains. I do have a hard time finding longer length curtains in the store so I usually shop online for curtains.
These curtains are a top seller. I actually have these curtains but currently they are not hung. The curtains are great but pretty thick since they are black out. They will need some messing around with and possibly some “training” to hang nicely.
They come in multiple sizes and colors too.
These linen curtains are a great option too and come in a few different colors.
Where to find affordable curtain rods
These curtain rods are my favorite curtain rods hands down. They come in a few different sizes including extra long. I used their longest rod to hang my IKEA curtains in my family room.
Tips on how to hang your curtains
Tip#1: Hang those curtains high and wide. Believe me when I say this will make your room look so much bigger. Even my 11 year old daughter commented that her room looked so much bigger after I hung her curtains. So just believe me and do it, k?
Tip# 2: Like I said earlier..please never buy 84″ curtains…84″ curtains should be banned. Unless you live in doll house, 84″ curtains will be way too short for your window. As a stated in Tip#1, you want to hang your curtains high above your window. 84″ curtains just won’t cut it. Just say no to the floods.
Tip#3: Curtain clips will be your best friend if you want to just hang your curtains/fabric quickly. I get mine on Amazon but any place has them.
Tip# 4: Train your curtains. That’s right, you need to train those bad boys. I did a whole post on how to train your curtains. You can read all about it in.this post
Tip#5: You can DIY your own curtain rods too. You can see how I made mine here.
Emily Henderson wrote a whole post about hanging curtains the right way. You can read it here.
Here’s a little cheat sheet I made for some of my e-design clients.
