Front Porch Planter Ideas (and a little refresh for summer)
It’s that time of year again!
There is something I love about decorating my front porch for spring and summer. It is one of my favorite things to do.
For the past few years I have been doing the same old thing on my front porch and I was starting to get bored with it.
So this year, I decided to step it up a notch and do something different
The only thing that stayed consistent was my dedication to fake plants and flowers.
I was born with two black thumbs. I have 3 children and a crazy dog. Taking care of one more living thing is just not happening.
I will never be ashamed to admit that I use fake flowers outside….year round.
(I do have a few live flowers here and there but only a few)
This year I decided to be a little less symmetrical in my design and I am loving the “collected” look.

Front Porch Planter Ideas
I get most of my planters from Hobby Lobby. They always have little hidden gems there. But I did my best to find some similar planters for you.
Another great place to look is Walmart. I have included a few from them as well but they are my go to after Hobby Lobby

What To Put In Your Planters
More outdoor faux plants from Amazon//Exact Faux Geraniums//Exact Faux Flowers in pot with olive tree//(the olive tree and lavender I got from Hobby Lobby but I linked similar here)
Plants, obviously.
Now listen, this is the part where some people will get mad at me. But..faux is always the way to go.
I have been using faux flowers for years, some of them have stayed out all winter long.
There is nothing wrong with using fake plants and flowers, ok?
My front porch is obviously covered but if yours is not, most of the plants these days are fade resistant and waterproof…so nothing to worry about

Front Porch Rug Ideas

I can’t end this blog post without talking about front porch rugs.
One of the very first blog posts I wrote was about my front porch and you guys loved that plaid rug.
So much so that I almost brought it back again this year…and I still might.
But for now I am loving this beige striped rug.
Again, my front porch is covered so I am hoping this rug doesn’t get too destroyed but I know I can throw it in the wash.
(I got the 4×6 rug since I have room for it)
And an update already!
I just switched out my front porch rug, for 2 reasons..
The biggest reason is that I just loved this rug from Target but I kept hesitating because the smallest size they have is a 5×7. I wasn’t sure how it would look.
And also, I was worried what the dog’s dirty paws would do to my white rug so I found another home for the white striped rug and just went with my gut.
And I love how it turned out.
I paired it with this coir rug from Target too and it’s just perfect.
I also FINALLY replaced the old rocking chairs we had on our front porch with new ones from Walmart
