How To Make Waterless Snow Globes For A Fun Winter Craft
It’s been a while since I did an easy little DIY project. I forgot how fun the easy ones are. vThis was not my genius idea. vI’ve seen this idea all over Pinterest but I thought it looked like a fun craft do with kids.
I didn’t make these snow globes with my kids though. Ha! But now that I know how easy (and non messy) they are, I have plans for a rainy day project with them.
I found most of my supplies at Hobby Lobby but you can find these supplies anywhere including the dollar store.
Items needed to make your own DIY waterless snow globes.
~Glass jars with lids (mason jars work well too)
~Fake snow (I used snowlike pebbles since they are less messy than the fake snow that looks like dust)
~Small figurines of your choice
~Hot glue gun or double sided tape
~Small wood slices (optional)
This was such an easy project and you can do this however you want. I found it easiest to just use double sided mounting tape instead of hot glue since it is less permanent.
I have a hard time committing to anything in my house…including little fawns in a jar.
I also had to prop up my little fawn on a wood slice to give him some more height.
I just stuck him to the wood slice with mounting tape. I then used another piece of tape and adhered the wood slice to the lid of the glass jar.
I then filled up my glass jar with some snow pebbles
Put the lid on and flipped it upside…and voila I had myself a DIY snow globe.
Like I said, I purchased all of my supplies at Hobby Lobby and I made sure that each figurine would fit inside the jars while I was in the store. I’m sure I looked like a weirdo in the aisles playing around with trees and fawns and shoving them in jars.
But a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do.
For the trees, I did not have to prop them up on a wood slice. They had enough height since they had a built in base. I just taped the tree directly to the lid jar
I repeated the steps above with my fawn.
And 32 seconds later and I had another snow globe.
I could have done this for days it was so easy and fun. Sometimes you just need an easy and fun DIY project to take your mind off the craziness the holidays can bring.
These snow globes are so universal too and I have every intention of keeping them out all winter. No need to stash them away with the Christmas decor when there is still snow on the ground.
These make cute gifts too. Attach a cute tag to them and give them to teachers or neighbors. I just think they are the cutest little things…cuter than my kids. JUST kidding!
And since I have commitment issues and only used double sided tape I can reuse these jars every season. See, I’m a genius!
