DIY Outdoor Fountain (Using Planters)
Come see how I turned two inexpensive planters into a DIY fountain. This step-by-step tutorial will show you how to transform ordinary planters into a tranquil water feature.
I am so excited about this little DIY project. As a complete disclaimer, this was not my invention. I have seen this all over Instagram and Pinterest.
I just added my little spin to it.
And by spin, I mean fake flowers and water bottles.

It’s been a while since I blogged about a DIY project. And like most of my DIY projects, this will be quick and painless
I save the horrible and disastrous DIY projects to myself. You’re welcome
Items needed to make your own DIY fountain
Planters
This is where I copied and only because I really like these planters and I could not find anything else I liked better. I really tried to change things up but here we are
I used these planters from Walmart and if you do not know that I have a soft spot in my heart for Walmart planters, now you do.

Solar Fountain:
This solar fountain is amazing. It comes with all different attachments so you can choose what kind of “stream” you want your fountain.
The only downfall about this fountain is that it HAS to be in the sun. The second a cloud covers the sun, you will see the strength of the fountain decrease quite a bit.
Plastic bottles and rocks:
This is where my laziness got the best of me. Technically you can use potting soil but for some reason filling my pot with empty water bottles and rocks just seemed easier.
Fake flowers (or real flowers if your are boujee)
Since I was using water bottles and rocks, I was not about to plant real flowers so I went with some of my favorite outdoor fake flowers.
How to make your DIY Water Fountain.
This could not be any easier.
Drill a hole in the bottom of your big planter only and fill up your planter with whatever you want.
Like I said, I was real fancy here and this is what the inside of my large planter looks like.
There is also a random plastic planter in there from some hydrangeas I killed last summer.
I just grabbed whatever I could find.
Add your small planter to your first planter right on top of whatever you used to fill it up
“Plant” your fake flowers around your smaller planter. If you use soil and real plants, then clearly plant your flowers around the perimeter of your small planter.
I just shoved my fake stems down into my rocks and bottles
Fill your small planter with water and add your solar lantern.
And that’s it! It seriously could not get any easier.
I am actually quite surprised with how much I can hear this small little fountain.
We had a real nice large fountain off the back of our house and I loved the sound of that thing. It quit working a few years ago…as does everything else in this house.
This little fountain is (somewhat) filling the void of that much larger fountain.
I am so glad I copied this from whoever really invented this idea.
I thank them.
Now feel free to go copy me.
One more picture since I took 654 pictures of this little guy
