How to style a throw blanket on a couch. My tips on how to decorate with throw blankets and other places you can use throw blankets.
I really never thought I’d be writing a blog post about throw blankets on a couch but…here we are.
I also really never thought that I would ever have an addiction to throw blankets but once again…here we are.
And I am sure this blog post will be riveting so brace yourself.
I love a good throw blanket. Yes, they can provide you with warmth when needed but I love them because they remind me of throw pillows.
I can just sprinkle them anywhere I please and they can instantly add color and texture to any space I am decorating.
I put throw blankets on whatever I can find too.
Sofas, chairs, dining chairs, ottomans and I even once used a blanket as a tablecloth.
It all started many years ago when I was desperately trying to find a way to spruce up some old chairs we had in our living room.
They were the comfiest chairs we have ever had but they were seeing their final days and they just were starting to look sad
So I made them happy again, and threw a blanket over the back of the chairs.
And then they were happy again….

How Do You Drape A Throw On Your Couch
Your sofa is obviously the first place you will end up throwing one of your blankets.
There are multiple ways one can put their blankets on their sofa.
There is the nice and neat version that is tucked behind pillows
And then there is the more casual way of this technique if you want your sofa to look less “formal”
And then there is the folded over the arm of the sofa technique
And my most favorite way is to put a blanket over the back of your sofa
This is a great technique if you want to hide the back of your couch (the butt crack of your couch if you know what I mean). The backside of sofas sometimes are not very flattering.
A blanket is like an oversized sweatshirt for your couch.
Please note that the blanket is only covering the back of the couch. Make sure to tuck the blanket in behind the sofa cushions. It’s the more modern style of how grandma used to display her blankets
How Do You Drape A Throw On A Chair
Well, technically the same way you would on a couch. I love these chairs so I do not care to hide them like I did my other chairs so this picture is for show only.
How To Coordinate Your Throw Blankets With Your Throw Pillows
Think of your blankets as another pillow. If you have more pillows with pattern to them, a solid throw would work. I’ll eventually switch to a solid blanket once the weather turns
But it’s always fun to play around and add different textures and colors throughout the year.
I love a good faux fur blanket in the winter to add some coziness to a space.
This picture was taken a few years ago and that blanket is no longer available. It is one of my favorite blankets though and I actually found it at Walmart.
Other (And Random) Places To Use Throw Blankets
My other favorite place I like to use throw blankets in my house is over my ottoman.
Some might ask what the point of a blanket over an ottoman is…and I really do not have a good answer to that question.
It’s just another excuse to buy another blanket. That’s my answer
In the winter I also like to add a faux fur blanket on my dining chairs to break up some of the wood tones in my dining room.
