Stores Like Pottery Barn And Where To Shop For Affordable Home Decor
Let’s not pretend like we all don’t like shopping. I obviously love shopping for home decor(unfortunately for my husband). But I also love finding deals and I despise paying full price for anything and I really despise paying for shipping.
I made three trips the the World Market that is 40 minutes from my house to bring home our new sectional…that’s how much I hate paying for shipping.
I also love to find designer dupes or look alike items that are a fraction of the cost of the more expensive item.
This post kind of piggy backs off of another post I wrote about where to find affordable home decor. I haven’t re-read that post in a while so there is a good chance there might be some overlap so I’ll apologize now.
And like I do with most of my posts, I like to start with one of my favorites…
(This post contains affiliate links. You can see my full disclosure here)
1.) World Market
If you know me, you know I love World Market. It has been my go to for the past 16 years. The majority of my furniture is from World Market. I recently just purchased my sectional from World Market.
It’s a modular sectional so you can piece together your sectional anyway you like.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…the prices at World Market cannot be beat and especially when they have one their furniture sales. And I feel like they have these often.
I purchased my sectional during one of their sales.
That black sofa table is also from World Market but is 16 years old. It still looks brand new.
You can see more of my favorites from World Market here
They have more than just furniture too. From baskets to chandeliers they have it all. I will be a fan forever.
2.) Wayfair
Another store that is slowly becoming a favorite of mine is Wayfair. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about their customer service. That alone has me a life long customer.
Just a warning…you can go down a big black never ending Wayfair hole if you are not careful. I found my kitchen island pendants on Wayfair
I think I looked at 562,548 pendants first though
3.) Amazon
Oh Amazon..talk about a black hole. I think I wrote three different posts about home decor from Amazon.
I love their Stone and Beam line. They have everything from furniture to home decor accessories.
I have purchased so much decor accessories from Amazon. I think the majority of my bookshelf decor is from Amazon. All of my favorites should be linked in my Amazon storefront for you.
4.) IKEA
IKEA is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shop for affordable home decor. There are some people that absolutely love IKEA (me) and some people who hate IKEA (my husband).
I have no idea what there is to hate though.
We do have their infamous Ektorp sofa and for the love of all things guacamole you cannot beat their price and it looks so much like the Pottery Barn slipcovered sofa and for 1/4th of the price.
Ok, maybe it is not as comfortable as the Pottery Barn sofa but who cares??? Well, maybe my husband does.
You can see more of my thoughts about our Ektorp sofa here.
And you can see why I love IKEA so much in this post.
I don’t care what my husband says, I am an IKEA fan for life.
5.) HomeGoods
HomeGoods or TJ Maxx are other great places to find some Pottery Barn look alikes. If you are shopping in store and you see something you like, grab it because it will be gone tomorrow.
Trust me, I know.
You can also shop online and every once in a blue moon TJ Maxx will offer free shipping with no minimum
6.) Ballard Designs
I do not talk a ton about Ballard Designs around here because it normally does not fit into my (husband’s) budget. But there are times when Ballard has some good sales so I like to check out their site every once in a while.
I get so many questions about these pendants in my kitchen in our old house every time I share this picture.
I got them at Ballard years ago but they still have them. I waited until they were on sale and then pounced.
It’s how I roll
7.) Target
This is a no brainer…obviously. Between the Hearth and Hand line and now the new Studio McGee line at Target, I can’t walk out of Target empty handed.
Not that I could have before.
8.) Nordstrom Home
Another place not too many people consider is Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack. I actually purchased my office rug from Nordstrom
Again, I waited until they had a sale going on. If you are shopping online at Nordstrom Rack, I would highly recommend not twiddling your thumbs if you see something you like. It never lasts long online
9.) Walmart
Yes I am comparing Pottery Barn with Walmart. But have you seen the Better Homes and Garden line at Walmart?!?!
And as you guessed it, I wrote a blog post about my favorites from Walmart. I will have to say that their online selection is much better than what they offer in stores.
10.) Hobby Lobby
I will not lie when I say I love Hobby Lobby. Yes, one can feel overwhelmed when stepping foot inside of there but I find so much good stuff. Some stuff is not my style but some stuff is on point and can mimic some high end decor pieces for a fraction of the cost.
Yep, I wrote a blog post about Hobby Lobby
11.) Pottery Barn Teen
OK, this might sound like a dumb suggestion but sometimes you can find “not teen looking” home decor at PB Teen for less than what you might find on PB’s website
Let’s take this linen flush mount for example on PB Teen’s website.
Here is her more expensive sister from Pottery Barn
See?
Sometimes you just need to take a look…and don’t think I haven’t looked at PB Baby for our house too.
12.) West Elm
I cannot say I shop at West Elm often but when I can, I like to take a trip to their outlets. If you have one near you, I highly recommend going. We found my husband’s recliner there for close to 70% off it’s original price
Some tips to get discounts on your home decor
A quick trick I have done over the years to help save money on some of my home decor (or anything really). Once you find that item you love, head over to Gift Card Granny or Cardpool and look to see if you can find discounted gift card(s) for the store you are shopping for. I do most of my shopping online so I look for e-gift cards.
You should get an email almost instantly after you purchase the gift card with the code you will use for your online purchase. I have also purchased a few gift cards at the same time from the same store if they are available to get more of a discount.
And if you want more of a savings, you can also check out eBay and look for coupons. I recently found a coupon from Pottery Barn to save 20% and get free shipping. The coupon cost me $2.99 and I saved so much more than that on my order using the coupon. The seller was able to email me the coupon code to use online. Make sure you read any fine print.
Always look for a promo code online. RetailMeNot is a great place to look for promo codes.
(If you like these little tips, sign up for my newsletter. I have been trying to send out a Friday Finds newsletter when I can (don’t worry, I won’t spam you) with all kinds of sales and coupon codes I can find for that week.)
